How do I safely use my pressure washer?

Kärcher’s Electric Pressure Washers are equipped with three major safety features:

Class II Double Insulation
All electrical components use two systems of insulation instead of grounding the circuit. This prevents a person from coming into contact with any dangerous electrical parts avoiding electrical shock.

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter
The circuit breaker provides protection against overloads, short circuits and ground faults. It detects very low levels of electrical current leaks (ground faults), and acts quickly to shut off power, preventing serious shock

Complete machine trigger shut-off
The electric motor starts when the trigger is pulled and shuts-off when the trigger is released. This helps prevent against early wear of the motor.

With a Gas Power Washer, do not leave it unattended while running. The pump will run in the bypass mode every time you release the trigger. If a pump is ran in the bypass mode for more than just a few minutes the recycled water in the pump will reach a temperature of over 140 degrees. This will activate the thermal release valve allowing water to spill out of the pump from beneath the black plastic cap. This device will reset itself when cold water enters in and cools off the pump. If done repeatedly the lubricants in the pump will dissolve and be flushed out. Therefore this safety mechanism will have to be replaced. Keep alert for the length of time the machine is running in the bypass mode."

Safety Tips:
Always wear proper, goggles, gloves and face protection when operating pressure washer.
Always keep hands and feet clear of the cleaning nozzle.
Always inspect all electrical connections.
Always check all fluids.
Always inspect hoses for cracks and leaks.
Always set the trigger safety lock when the gun valve is not in use.
Always use the lowest pressure level as possible to do the job adequately.
Always relieve pressure from the washer before disconnecting hoses.
Always drain hose after each use.
Never point the trigger gun at yourself or another person.
Never start the machine until all hose connections are checked and locked in place.
Never start the machine until the water supply is turned on and flowing properly through the spray wand. Then insert the desired cleaning nozzle and/or tip into the lance quick connect coupler
